I am proud to say tonight was my first time sitting through the Oscars from start to finish. Easy for some but a true accomplishment for me. I’m typically the type to review the best dressed stats the morning after, but this year I’m calling the shots and there is no doubt that Jessica Chastain in her Armani Privé gown was titled best dressed for the evening. At a close a second, Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Haute Couture. After watching five hours of oscar coverage I can confidently say there won’t be many that would disagree with me.

Although all the women looked beautiful in their own individual styles they all seemed to be variations of one another and nothing to risky. Through my eyes it was old hollywood strapless glamour or 90′s necklines that walked the red carpet. The stars have spoken.

I’v Been Vegucated

Last night I took the time to watch Vegucated, an informative and very inspirational documentary on the effects of being Vegan. Now, I love my meats and cheeses. In fact, right before I watched the movie I finished off some bacon! But, the film got to me on various levels. The effect on your health, cruelty to animals, and the effect on the earth. One of these three factors is bound to stick with you between the proven data, the honest visuals, and/or the great illustrations.

The film walks you through three individuals journeys of the possibility of a vegan lifestyle. Making it easy for you to in vision yourself taking these steps. What I like best about the film is the understanding that it is a huge change for many people and if going cold turkey is not your approach, it is just as good to just try to limit your intake. If everyone just consumed LESS animal products it would make a world of a difference!

I will be making the conscious effort to reach for the veggie burger!

Cupcake Jar

At first glance, this image is frightening, but the ideas of a kimchi cupcake came to me when my vegan, gluten-free buddy was celebrating her birthday. Nothing is worse than not being able to eat your own birthday sweets. This might even be the perfect solution for an allergy or someone that just doesn’t have a sweet tooth. And so… I threw one of her favorite snacks into a jar, kimchi. Now, I know, that is not the genius part because there are many alternatives to birthday cakes. The simple but yet, genius part is the iced candle lite lid.

All you need is some candles, in whatever color you would like, to burn and drip onto the lid as the icing. before that hardens poke your holes for the cut candles to sit in and drip a little more hot wax in hole to steady the candle. And whala, a celebration treat exactly the way the birthday one likes it!

Sarong Feels So Right

Being that it’s such a simple concept, I’m surprised it has taken me so long to endure a sarong on my vacation getaways. As a simple piece of fabric. The size, quality, design, and style you wear it, gives you so many choices when it comes to the right sarong. For me I bought a yard and a half of fabric at my local fabric store. And I loved the look. Below are some great sarongs that might be worth the investment or at least some good inspiration.

Kenneth Cole Comeback

As NY Fashion Week 2013 continues I would like to take a moment to applaud Kenneth Cole for his amazing comeback to the runway and his always witty ways of keeping the label sleek and smart. The looks focused on detail, the colors were intelligent, and the technology throughout the show, stand out. See for yourself. Live Runway Show.

I have had the privilege of seeing the inner workings of the collection and to work with the brilliant team that made this collection happen. With an industry so small see the collaboration of past and present coworkers and the result is something to be proud of. Also as the fit model, I am also the lucky girl who gets to try everything on before it hits the runway!

Just Go: San Juan, Puerto Rico

You don’t realize how much you need a vacation until you actually go on one. This will be my first time staying in San Juan and even better, staying at a resort! And to think I liked roughing it. A girl could get used to this kind of life. El San Juan Resort & Casino was everything we heard it would be and more! Well worth it, especially if you can hold out for a deal. Between the pool bar, beach, and surrounding local restaurants I had no complaints.

If you want to head away from the resort head to Old San Juan or take one of the many excursions. I know it’s crazy that I have never made this trip as this is a quick easy destination that many people escape to, but I am excited to say I highly recommend Puerto Rico!The pool side cabana was our favorite for afternoon naps.
The resort was large enough you always had a choice to join the party or find some peace and quite. At the pool bar ask for LOUIS he is the sweetest bartender I have ever met and his amazing coconut mojito doesn’t hurt his status either. Hotel lobby, where the night life is! And if you want more head to the club right off the lobby. Loved it!
